Ung Svensk Form 2026 at IKEA Museum

Ung Svensk Form is one of those recurring exhibitions that lets us encounter Swedish design before its ideas have become familiar. This year's edition brings together around twenty works at IKEA Museum in Älmhult, with craftsmanship, material knowledge and questions of sustainability, reuse, circularity, identity and inclusion at its centre.

What we are looking at

The interest lies less in any single trend than in the breadth of approaches taken by a new generation of designers. Materials are used as arguments rather than surfaces. Reuse and circularity become part of the design itself, while several works move between object, craft and narrative.

Love Persson has received the IKEA of Sweden work scholarship for Himmel och jord. It is one of the clearest reasons to see the exhibition in person: a meeting of idea, material and making that becomes more legible in the room than in a summary.

Two opportunities to visit

The exhibition is at IKEA Museum in Älmhult from 17 September to 1 November 2026. It then travels to Dunkers kulturhus in Helsingborg, where it runs from 19 November 2026 to 3 January 2027.

For Prestaged, Ung Svensk Form is worth following because the selection does not treat newness as the point. These are works considering how objects might live longer, how knowledge can be preserved and how design can hold a wider range of experiences.
